Debra T. Thomas Learning Center 2, Inc. provides a program of activities geared toward the age levels and developmental needs of our children.
Infants & Toddlers
The daily program for infants and toddlers provides experiences which promote the individual child’s growth and well-being in the development of gross and fine motor skills, sensory learning, language, cognitive, and positive self-concept.
Self-care such as washing, dressing, toileting, brushing and combing is encouraged as each child shows evidence of ability to do so.
Pre-School
The daily program provides experiences which promote the individual child’s growth and well-being and the development of self-help and communication skills, social competence, and positive self-identity.
Daily indoor and outdoor activities in which children make use of both large and small muscles are provided.
School-Age
We provide a daily program and activities that recognize the developmental and educational needs of school-age children who need group care before and after school.
Children who have been in school all day have time set aside for relaxation and recreation immediately upon arrival from school. Quiet activities are accessible to the children and they are given opportunities to do homework on a free choice basis.
Opportunities are provided for the development of skills in areas such as sports, art, and music. We also provide special projects, such as field trips to the library and other local and nearby businesses.
Parent Involvement
Parent involvement is vital to our program. Communication and cooperation are the key components. Parents are encouraged to read newsletters, notices on bulletin boards and posted notices throughout the building. Daily communication with your child’s teacher is encouraged.
Parents and guardians are permitted access during hours of operation for the purposes of contacting their children, evaluating the care of their children, or evaluation the premises.
Parent/Teacher conferences are held at least twice each year and are also available upon request.
